WA Badass Gospel Choir featuring Addison Axe

Fighting the Times is an empowering song written by Addison Axe as part of The Tommyhawks, that the WA Badass Gospel Choir sing regularly. It resonates with each one of us, having all been indoctrinated with the belief that women should be seen and not heard.

“We are the women, and we’ll keep on singing” are lyrics that pledge our solidarity and illustrate to minorities that they are seen, they are loved, they belong, and we will continue to pressure those in power to create change.

In an effort to not only focus on the light at the end of the tunnel, we chose to wear more white than usual, to embody the light *within* the tunnel. Although we had the privilege of collaborating with Axe for this video, we missed our fellow singers Abbe May, Odette Mercy, and Tina Muzondo. Alongside the clock, radio, and the happy apple, some childhood glo worms were added to the mantle for extra illumination, reminding us all that when the cracks appear, it allows the light to come through.
