Daily dose of fireside Mantle Music smokes out the collaborative best of Freo 

Mantle Music delivers its fireside magic again, this year recorded outdoors and inside one of Freo’s most remarkable locations. Talented locals in rare collaborations and situations are filmed and sound recorded at the same time in this awesome project.

An incredible collaboration between some of WA’s most talented musos, photography and videography by Lincoln McKinnon, the recording mastery of Joe Leach, , and the beauty and the energy of wild Freo itself, Mantle Music captures a hot collation of tracks across the festival to be enjoyed each day and forever.

Claudie Joy & the Joy Boys

Experience the winter allure of Mantle Music’s debut clip, featuring “Claudie Joy & the Joy Boys.” Isla Dunne and Claudia Tero’s unreleased melody takes you on a nocturnal rain-soaked adventure through the streets of Walyalup.

Nika Mo

“Every year in Boorloo, around November, we see the Jacarandas come into bloom, and suddenly every pocket of the city is dotted with purple clouds among rooftops. This song is about that, about time passing and the small reminders were given, and also (isn’t it always about love?) about ex-lovers’ dogs forgetting you”. Nika Mo performs “Purple Suburbia” for Mantle Music number 3.

Cruz Patterson

Number four of the Mantle series introduces “Peach House,” a creation by Cruz Patterson. This song was born from a moment of inspiration during lockdown.

Lois Onley

Concluding the Mantle Music series for 2023, Lois Onley takes the fireside lounge room with her piece “Last Sad Song,” accompanied by Dave and Pheobe. Through her performance, Lois weaves a tale of happiness, suffering, affection, and yearning. In her own words, “Music helps heal the people that I love and the sorrow that we all have in common.”
